DJEMBE PERFORMANCE CREW 2022

Anyone who regularly plays a djembe with me is welcome as a part of the RHYTHM HARMONY DJEMBE PERFORMANCE CREW!
Experience is not an essential requirement, but smiles and happy vibes are! You will need a djembe drum of your own, or you can join in with other percussion instruments that will be provided.  You will also need to bring a suitable seat or a djembe harness.

We take our special rhythmical magic to charity and community events such as fairs, fetes and festivals, to provide an entertaining performance.

We have a specific playlist and a structured format for 2022, much of which is covered in the regular drum circles.  There are also 'run-through' sessions when possible, plus tutorial videos which are linked below.

You do not need to actually remember anything - brief reminder demos will be given at the time. However, it can be really helpful for you (and therefore more enjoyable) to be familiar with the beats, hence the videos.  Prior to the performance date I will send you info on the format and who is playing what.

Make enjoyment your primary goal - If we lose our way on our drum, we anchor onto the pulse of the groove, and simply join in with that. Relax and smile. Every beat counts.

Our vibe is fun, slick and joyful!  We drum as one group, each drummer encouraging the others, maxing out the enjoyment factor.

How do you join the crew?  Simply sign-up via Eventbrite to the gig(s) that you would like to take part in, using the links below.

If you are a newer crew member, please know that it's all much easier on the day than you may be imagining! We drum as one, with some of our stuff being fixed parts, and for the sparky stuff we make sure that we are all in and together before bringing in other rhythms, so nobody is left adrift.

You only actually need to play one rhythm pattern for each of our pieces to be in the groove!

The ZEBRA break takes a bit of getting to grips with, but if it is a new thing to you, (we may not all have covered it in the regular drum circles by next month), then don't let it worry you. The strategy is to be familiar with how the break sounds, take a breather and enjoy your fellow drummers playing it, and then you will know when to re-join the rhythm.
Happy drumming!
